Preparing for June 5th and June 12th

June 5th and June 12th we will be examining the concept of Saved by Faith using Genesis 15:6 as a starting point.

Other things you need to read to prepare yourself for the class:
  • Romans 3 and 4
  • Galatians 2:16-3:29
  • Isaiah 43:22-25
Also I think you should take a moment and think about or write down how you were saved.  What is the means by which you were saved and how is that salvation secured eternally?

If you have difficulty completing that activity then come prepared to discuss or ask questions.

Take care until June 5th!

Noahic Covenant (Age of Civil Government)

Universal Covenant because Noah is the representative for the entire human race and all humanity descends from him

Unconditional Covenant because God will fill the covenant in detail.  Man has nothing to do with keeping the agreement

  • The seasons, day and night, are proof of a covenant keeping God (Genesis 8:22
  • The rainbow is visible in all generations to remind us of God’s declaration in his covenant with Noah.  It is an “everlasting covenant” between God and perpetual generations.  The rainbow is a token which God places in the clouds to remind Him and us of the covenant he made with Noah.
Provisions of the Noahic Covenant:
  • Repopulate(Genesis 1:28) the earth but not subdue it (Genesis 9:1, 7) (reference Edenic covenant)
  • God guaranteed the stability of the natural law following the flood (Genesis 8:20-22)
  • God added fear of man in Animals and added meat to man’s diet (Genesis 9:2-3)
  • Man cannot eat blood (Genesis 9:4) (Leviticus 17:10-14)
  • God placed in this covenant the preciousness of life/capital punishment (reference Cain) (Genesis 9:5-6)
  • God declared the world would never again be judged by a flood (Genesis 9:11) (refer to 2 Peter 3:3-10)
  • God confirmed the covenant with a rainbow in the cloud (Genesis 9:12-16)
  • The covenant is confirmed to all generations.  It is an everlasting covenant (Genesis 9:16)
  • The prophecy of the descendants of Noah’s three sons is given (Genesis 9:25-27) .  All divine revelation  was through Semitic men (Hebrew 11:10-30)
